For $490, my inspection team goes to the car, in any province, checks it inside, outside and underneath, takes it for a drive, and sends you photos, video, the Carfax and a written assessment with a clear verdict. It works for dealer cars and private sales.
Who is this for?
- Out-of-province buyers. The car is in Calgary, you're in Halifax. Flying out to look at it costs more than the inspection.
- Buyers outside Canada. I inspected a 1969 Dodge Charger for a buyer in Germany and am handling its export.
- Busy buyers in your own city. You don't have a free afternoon to drive across town and you don't know what to look for.
- Private sales. No dealer, no warranty, no second chance. Nobody else is checking this car, so you'd better.
What does the inspection include?
- Exterior and body: paint, panel gaps, signs of accident repair, rust on rockers, arches and doors, glass and lights.
- Underneath: rust on the frame, subframes, brake and fuel lines, leaks, exhaust and suspension parts.
- Engine and drivetrain: cold start, idle, noises, fluid condition, warning lights, and a diagnostic scan for stored fault codes.
- Tires and brakes: tread depth, uneven wear, pad and rotor condition.
- Interior and electronics: seats, odors, water marks, every screen, camera, window, lock and the climate system.
- Test drive: shifting, steering, braking, alignment, and how the car behaves at speed.
- Paperwork: VIN on the car matches the registration and the history report, plus one Carfax report with a lien check, included in the price.

How does it work?
- Send me the listing. A link, the seller's contact and the VIN if you have it.
- We book it with the seller. My team arranges a time to see the car where it sits.
- The inspection. In person, with photos and video of the parts that cost money.
- Your report. Photos, video, the Carfax and a written assessment, with a clear verdict: buy, negotiate, or walk.
- Your call. If you buy, I can help negotiate with what we found and arrange delivery to your door.
What does it cost?
$490 CAD, flat, in every province. It includes one Carfax report with a lien check, ordered once you confirm the car you want inspected. No percentage of the car's price, no upsell.
If the inspection finds problems, good, that's the job working. A $490 report that stops you from buying a $25,000 mistake, or knocks $2,000 off the price, pays for itself.
What it is not
This is an independent pre-purchase inspection, not a warranty and not your province's safety certificate. Most provinces still require their own inspection before they register a car from out of province. I explain how that works in my guide to buying a used car from another province.
Rather have me find the car too? For $300 more, the Car Finding Service includes the inspection.
Car Finding Service: $790Frequently asked questions
Do you inspect cars in every province?
Yes. My inspection team covers every province in Canada, so the car can be anywhere and you can be anywhere.
Can you inspect a car from a private seller?
Yes. Private sales need it most, because there is no dealer and no warranty behind the car.
How much does a remote pre-purchase inspection cost?
A flat $490 CAD, including one Carfax report with a lien check for the car being inspected. The price is the same in every province.
Is this the same as a provincial safety inspection?
No. It is an independent pre-purchase inspection that tells you whether to buy. Most provinces still require their own safety or out-of-province inspection before registration.
Can you inspect classic or collector cars?
Yes. I have inspected a 1969 Dodge Charger for a buyer in Germany. Classic cars need extra attention to rust, originality and paperwork, and the report covers that.
