Used Ram 1500
Quick answer

A used Ram 1500 in Canada lists for roughly $10,500 to $52,500 in October 2026. Most buyers should aim for a 2019 to 2021 car at about $19,500 to $36,500.

What does a used Ram 1500 cost in Canada?

These ranges are built from current average asking prices on CarGurus.ca across Canada, year by year. They cover the bulk of the market: a very high-kilometre car will sit below the range, and a nearly new, dealer-certified one at the top or above it.

Which 1500 generation should you buy?

2013 to 2018: the value truck

The fourth generation came with the 3.6L V6, the 5.7L Hemi V8 or the 3.0L EcoDiesel, mostly with an eight-speed automatic. It kept being sold as the Ram 1500 Classic after 2019, so check which one you are looking at.

2019 and newer: the best interior in the class

The fifth generation set the bar for truck interiors and ride comfort, especially with coil or air suspension. The eTorque mild hybrid became available, and for 2025 the Hemi made way for a twin-turbo inline-six.

1500 pros and cons

What owners like

  • Smoothest ride and nicest cabin among full-size trucks
  • Strong Hemi V8 and good towing
  • Huge choice of trims and options

What owners complain about

  • Thirsty with the V8
  • Air suspension repairs are expensive when they fail
  • Rust on older trucks in salted provinces

What should you check before buying a used 1500?

  • 5.7L Hemi: listen for a ticking noise at idle. Lifter and camshaft wear is a known issue and an expensive repair.
  • Air suspension: make sure the truck sits level after parking and raises and lowers properly.
  • Older trucks: check rocker panels, cab corners, wheel arches and the frame for rust.
  • All years: confirm whether it's a Classic or the newer truck, read the full Carfax, and run the VIN for open recalls.

Those are the 1500-specific items. The general checks for any used car are in my pre-purchase inspection checklist, and before any money moves, run a lien check.

If you want a truck that rides like a car, the 2019 and newer Ram 1500 is the one. Have the Hemi and the suspension checked properly: those are the big-money items.
